About Navinder Singh

After being called to the Singapore Bar in 1995, Navinder commenced practice with an established local shipping and commercial litigation firm and was made partner within a short space of five years. Having already established himself as a formidable advocate, in 2002, Navinder founded Navin & Co. to focus on his desired career in maritime, commercial and corporate litigation.

As a reputable practitioner in the field of shipping litigation and arbitration, Navinder has acted as counsel in several landmark cases involving complex shipping work, and two of those cases determined issues in the Singapore Courts for the first time.

In the case of The AA 5, Navinder successfully set aside the arrest of a vessel in Singapore waters and also succeeded in obtaining damages for wrongful arrest. There were no previous cases in which a plaintiff had succeeded in obtaining damages in this regard in Singapore. In The Patraikos, Navinder acted as co-Counsel for cargo owners in relation to a claim for cargo damage. The vessel in question grounded off Singapore waters and the owners were claiming a limitation of liability under the Hague-Visby Rules. He succeeded on behalf of cargo owners in breaking limitation for the first time in the Singapore Courts.

Areas of Practice

Navinder has litigated cases in many areas of law. His principal areas of practice remain in civil and commercial litigation, shipping and admiralty litigation, insolvency law and IT/IP law. His other practice areas include ship financing and shipping corporate / transactional matters.

About Raghunath Peter Doraisamy

Called to the Singapore Bar in early 1999, Peter has maintained an active practice in his chosen specialisation, maritime law. He spent his formative years with an established local maritime law firm where he handled numerous complex litigation and arbitration matters before being invited to take up an appointment as Group Legal Counsel of KS Energy Services Limited, an energy services group catering to the oil and gas industry. In 2007, Peter joined Navin & Co. LLP as a partner.

Alongside his litigation and arbitration practice, Peter advises owners, yards and specialist service providers in the shipping and offshore oil and gas industries on all manner of corporate and transactional matters.

About Colin Jarraw

Since his call to the Singapore Bar, Colin has specialised in shipping law. He joined an established local shipping law firm as an associate and was heavily involved with both dry and wet shipping litigation matters. In 2006, Colin joined the maritime and aviation practice group of Messrs Allen & Gledhill LLP, where he was involved in numerous ship finance transactions acting as Singapore counsel to foreign and local banks as well as acting for shipowners on all aspects of non-contentious shipping matters including financing and leasing transactions, advising on charterparties, shipbuilding contracts, conducting due diligence on shipping companies and ship and mortgage registrations. Colin is also called to the Sarawak Bar. In 2009, Colin joined Navin & Co. LLP as a partner.
